Everyday Women: The Parisienne’s 11 Favourites
Andrea Bunod is part of Everyday Women, a series highlighting real stories from plus-size women. This summer, we pass the mic to Andrea, a 24-year-old Parisian who shares her take on everyday Paris clothing, self-expression, and must-visit spots in the city of lights.
Discovering Everyday Paris
I'm Andrea, a 24-year-old French nurse who moved to Paris just over a year ago. Passionate about food, art, and fashion, I’ve spent my time discovering how this city can feel like home. As a plus-size woman, personal style has been a key part of my confidence journey, and I love finding everyday Paris clothing that reflects who I am.
Growing up tall and plus-size wasn’t always easy, but over time, I learned to embrace my body through fashion. Dressing according to my mood and personality has empowered me, and I hope my experiences help you feel the same. Here’s my guide to everyday life in Paris, featuring my favourite places to eat, shop, and unwind.
I feel like it is time for women from everywhere, every shape, every state of mind, every stage of life to embrace their inner strength.
Exploring Paris Through Fashion & Culture
Start Your Day Right: Brunch & Bakeries
- B.O.U.L.O.M. – This bakery and brunch spot is my go-to for fresh pastries and homemade dishes by a renowned French chef. It’s the perfect way to fuel up before exploring the city.
Vintage Shopping in Le Marais
I always begin my walks in Le Marais, an artistic neighborhood in the 3rd arrondissement filled with vintage stores, street art, and historic courtyards. Music in my ears, I browse for unique fashion finds that add character to my wardrobe.
- Kilo Shop (6th arrondissement) – If you love second-hand fashion, this shop lets you buy vintage pieces by weight. They stock plus-size clothing and a great range of accessories, making it a must-visit.
- Tucked Friperie (12th arrondissement) – A hidden gem offering high-end brands like Kenzo and Versace, all at affordable prices. Finding stylish, plus-size-friendly options is a joy here!
Art & Inspiration: A Cultural Break
Paris is a city of art, and I love spending time at the Louvre. With its endless galleries, there’s always something new to admire.
- L'Atelier des Lumières – This immersive art gallery brings famous artworks to life with digital projections. Picture Salvador Dalí’s paintings set to Pink Floyd’s music—it’s an unforgettable experience!
I sincerely find it amazing how your mood of the moment influences your perception of an art piece.
Relaxing in the City
After visiting museums, I unwind at Champ de Mars, the vast green space near the Eiffel Tower. It’s the perfect spot to sit with a book and take in the Parisian atmosphere.
Lunchtime Delights: Where to Eat
Paris’s diverse food scene offers something new to try every day. Whether I’m in the mood for French classics or global flavors, there’s always an option nearby.
- Restaurant Riv'k – This spot blends Asian and Israeli cuisines beautifully. Their fried burrata is a must-try!
- Poulet Braisé – A budget-friendly eatery serving perfectly seasoned grilled chicken with rice, plantains, and flavorful African sauces.
- La Grande Épicerie de Paris – This upscale delicatessen is paradise for food lovers. From artisanal cheeses to fine wines, it’s a must-visit for gourmet treats.
Evening Entertainment: The Parisian Nightlife
Evenings in Paris are full of possibilities. Whether I’m in the mood for theatre, stand-up comedy, or a laid-back drink, there’s always something happening.
- Le Panam'Art Café – If you love stand-up comedy, this cozy venue hosts both emerging and well-known comedians. Booking in advance is essential!
- Outdoor Cinema at La Villette (19th arrondissement) – A summer favorite, this open-air movie screening lets you enjoy classic films in a relaxed park setting.
- Bar & Beer – A peaceful bar perfect for unwinding with a cocktail or craft beer after a long day.
- Le Pachamama – My favorite nightclub! Located in a stunning 19th-century building, it has three floors with different music styles, making it ideal for a fun night out.
